"Island Wars," a freeware PC game from InterAction Studios, has been around for more than 10 years thanks to its simple concept and efficient design. The game involves two rival island nations fighting for supremacy. Each island sends a plane to bomb the other's palm trees. Players may compete against the computer or against another human opponent, with both players using the keyboard to control either the island's cannon defenses or the aircraft bomber. The player controlling the aircraft must blow up all the Island's palm trees to win. Other game levels allow players to each control an aircraft and to engage in an aerial dogfight. The game's simple controls and lighthearted action combine for hours of competitive fun.
