Set in the year 2081, some 10 years after the Earth's destruction, "Miner Wars" is a first-person space adventure that lets players control a mining ship exploring the Inner Solar System in search of vital resources. The game boasts an open-world environment, allowing players to complete missions on their own or to go online and play with or against other people. Objects within the environment remain persistent unless destroyed, and everything in the game can be destroyed, which only adds to the realism. Players choose from a full array of ships, with each craft possessing particular strengths and weaknesses that must be tailored to individual missions. Players can also use their mining profits to purchase ship upgrades like armor plating, engine boosters, radar systems, and more enhanced weaponry. Rival fractions spring up throughout the game, forcing players to choose sides or to go it alone. The game's powerful VRAGE engine can display 300 ships at once, permitting truly epic battles and creating a full space opera experience.
