Play65 allows players to play backgammon in two different ways. One could elect to use play money. This means that any gambling done is purely make-believe. However, Play65 also allows players to make a genuine deposit and gamble with real money. People that want to use real money might be concerned that the pseudorandom number generator used for dice rolls isn't adequate. However, the company that produces Play65 provides documentation to prove that the algorithm is particularly robust. The backgammon client itself is freeware. Those that use the Macintosh or Linux platforms might want to take a look at the Java version of the Play65 client. It can also work with some types of PDA devices, which is good news for those that want to roll a doubling cube on the go.
