Runaway: a Road Adventure is a point and click adventure game that came out in 2001. You might expect this would make the game very old and outdated, but that would be a mistake. The game has a beautiful cel shaded animation style and hand drawn backgrounds that makes it look great even today. The gameplay is typical adventure game stuff, examining items, talking to characters, and solving puzzles. Fortunately, the writing and design is good too, so all these activities are quite entertaining. There's a lot of interesting characters and situations, so you will never be bored. Sometimes finding an item can be difficult due to small size, but really that's one of the few issues the game could be questioned about. You take control of a recent college graduate from the East Coast, looking to continue his studies on the West Coast. He of course never makes it and decides to help a damsel in distress being chased by a mafia thug. If you are looking for a beautiful, interesting adventure game, look no further, Runaway: A Road Adventure is the ticket.
