As a sequel to Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver, Crystal Dynamics' Soul Reaver 2 should be very familiar to fans of the original, the other Legacy of Kain games, and even the action-adventure Tomb Raider series from publisher Eidos. You once again assume the role of fallen vampire Raziel as you fight your way through hordes of demons and mutants to unravel the truth about your past. The game features smooth graphics and accessible action gameplay, but perhaps the biggest standout is the sound. Featuring a very impressive cast of voice acting talent, the gothic atmosphere is heightened to a fever pitch, particularly in the dramatic cutscenes. Fans of the original may be put off by the relative lack of boss fights, but the enhancements to the combat and variety of enemies more than make up for this.
