Spore is a game where you get to create your very own universe, manage evolution of critters, build civilization and eventually explore the stars!

Sounds really cool, right? Well when this game first came out it wasn’t so well received, luckily time has proven this game to be a solid classic.

The concept itself is amazingly original, and is a bit like Civilization meets The Sims. The main campaign in Spore itself isn’t very long or even challenging, but the beauty of this game is exploring what you can do with it and what effects simple evolutionary changes can have on species and civilizations in the long run.

One of the best things about this game are the players themselves – even after all these years there is a vibrant community of people that still love to play and share the game with others. You’ll be able to find all kinds of hacks, mods, hints, tips and tricks and even guides that will show you everything you need to do to get your species to spacefaring status.

So if you like The Sims or Civilization, you should definitely give Spore a try!

Pros

  • Evolution Meets Management Will Wright, the creator of The Sims and SimCity, set out to create a game that let people control everything from the very beginnings of a civilization and beyond – this game accomplished that and so much more.
  • Great Inclusive and Helpful Community The community is still very engaged with the game, so you’ll have lots to see and do!

Cons

  • Game Can Run a Little Short The main campaign can feel like it falls a little short (especially compared with The Sims and SimCity!)
  • Not the Most Challenging Sim This game is more of an exploration game than a strict technical simulator.
