Condemned Criminal Origins is an action horror game by Monolith Inc. Previously known for their Shogo Mobile Defense, and No One Lives Forever games, Condemned Criminal Origins is a much darker game. In it, you take control of an FBI investigator and explore a ruined city full of criminals and dangerous psychopaths. You must defend yourself and solve the mystery before you are enveloped by the city and doomed like so many others.
Condemned Criminal Origins is a first person game with a lot of melee combat. You do eventually get a gun, but ammo is scarce. You will mainly have to defend yourself from grisly murderers with a variety of melee weapons, like boards, pipes, clubs, etc. Many games have problems when creating a strong melee combat system, but fortunately Monolith has done a great job here. Condemned Criminal Origins has a lot going for it with an interesting, challenging melee combat system that is not a pain to use. Even though Condemned Criminal Origins is an older game the graphics are still excellent. The music also adds a lot to the game, always fading in and out and adding suspense.
Condemned Criminal Origins is an excellent game from an excellent developer. It is definitely worth a try at its budget price.
