Sherlock Holmes the Awakened is the third adventure computer video game released by Frogwares in the Sherlock Holmes series. The game was initially released in November of 2006 and then re-mastered and rereleased in October of 2008.
The storyline follows Sherlock Holmes on the case of a missing young Maori manservant in 1894. After quickly discovering the boy was kidnapped by two men, Holmes finds leads that point him in the direction of the kidnappers. He and his assistant, Watson, follow the leads all the way to a Swiss mental asylum. Holmes has himself admitted to get a better idea of what the connection of the place is with the case.
During his stay in the asylum, Holmes makes gruesome discoveries of the asylum's activities and has to make a hasty escape before becoming a part of it all. He and Watson are then lead to New Orleans to follow leads on another missing boy that is in connection to the case he is currently working. The gamer must link the two cases together and find the real mastermind behind all the madness.
The re-mastered version gives the gamer the third-person game play option. This option was already available in other games in the series. A new help bar and updated help options gives the gamer more step by step assistance while playing. The graphics in the re-mastered version were also improved and new animations were added.
