What is Knights of the Chalice?
This single-player, isometric 2D RPG takes place on the Crimson Coast of Mindrel, where you oppose the Council of the Slaver Lords. You create four adventurers, explore, choose dialogue responses, and craft enchanted weapons. Battles are turn-based and use OGL 3.5, the open-license rules underlying Dungeons & Dragons 3.5.
For you if...
- +you enjoy coordinating spells, positioning, and abilities across a party
- +you prefer combat-focused adventures over elaborate character-driven stories
Not for you if...
- −you want a forgiving campaign with little tactical planning
- −you expect a wide selection of character classes
What players say
86% of 101 reviews are positive
Players praise the encounter design, enemy tactics, and in-game rules explanations. Recent reviews value the demanding combat, though one critical review argues that enemy spellcasters receive unfair advantages.
