38.8% of games released on Steam in 2026 disclose AI content
Up from 1.4% in 2023. We checked every game released on Steam, adult-only titles included, using Valve's own AI flag in Steam's data: the share has grown every year since Valve introduced the AI disclosure in January 2024.

How we counted
- Every game released on Steam, taken from Steam's own list, including the adult-only games that the public store hides: 22,447 releases in 2026 so far.
- "Discloses AI content" means the game carries Valve's AI flag in Steam's data, the same disclosure developers fill in when they submit a game. It is self-reported: AI that a developer doesn't disclose is not counted.
- Since January 2026 the disclosure covers AI content that players see or hear, in the game and in its marketing, not AI tools used to work faster.
- The uses (art, voices, text…) are read from each developer's statement by a simple program; a vague statement counts in no category. 1,271 games count in the totals but not in the uses, because there is no statement we could read. 1,068 of them are adult-only, and Steam shows their page only to signed-in users. For 203 more (2.7% of the flagged games that aren't adult-only), Steam's data carries the AI flag but the store page shows no statement.
- Size is the number of Steam reviews today. Reviews are the average share of positive reviews, for games with at least 50.
- Before 2024 the disclosure didn't exist: those years only count disclosures added later.
