What is Pairs & Perils?
This single-player roguelite uses a table of cards for dungeon combat. You memorize positions and pair heroes with their weapons, avoiding traps that damage you and skip your turn while enemy attack counters tick down. Between battles, you buy passive relics and consumable cards before reaching a final boss that can vary between runs.
For you if...
- +you prefer short runs with straightforward rules
Not for you if...
- −you want elaborate combos and complex deckbuilding decisions
- −you dislike games that test your short-term memory
What players say
75% of 142 reviews are positive
Players praise the art and music. A recurring complaint is limited replay value, with different cards and items doing little to change how runs play. Several players say cycling the same matches on normal difficulty can prevent enemies from acting.
