What is Once a Pawn a King?

In this single-player strategy roguelike, you lead the Black Army through the White King's shifting castle to rescue its captured king. During each run, you recruit chess pieces, use their distinct movement patterns in turn-based battles, and strengthen your party with upgrades. Boards, upgrades, and encounters vary between runs.
