What is The Royal Writ?
This single-player roguelike deckbuilder takes place in a medieval animal kingdom, where you fight a rebellion and a new gunpowder threat. Across two campaigns, you position troop cards on battlefields and use their abilities as they advance toward enemies. Cards that reach the enemy base before you win are removed from your deck for the rest of the run.
For you if...
- +you enjoy dark humor and absurd medieval characters
- +you like repeated runs with changing decks and strategies
Not for you if...
- −you want real-time action rather than turn-based battles
What players say
80% of 445 reviews are positive
Players praise the unusual card combinations, artwork, and music. Criticism centers on the second campaign, which some players find much harsher, with cards and mechanics that feel restrictive rather than rewarding.
