Audition Online is an MMO dancing game much in the same vein as Dance Dance Revolution but for the PC crowd. It's downloadable for free and isn't very graphic intensive or storage intensive. This makes it a great casual game for groups of friends or anyone who loves a good beat.
Similar to Dance Dance Revolution and similar dancing games, you create a unique character in Audition Online and are then set to the challenge of learning how to "dance" to the beat of pop songs using arrow commands. Unlike DDR, instead of using your feet to physically dance, you're tasked with punching out the commands using your keyboard. The game starts out easy then gets more and more difficult as the beats get quicker and the command strings become hectic.
As you pass levels and successfully complete songs, you gain currency that can be spent on fashion accessories and new clothes for your character's avatar. As you advance your character, you also unlock special ranked challenges and songs called License Battles.
Audition Online features a solid online setup that lets you to play against friends or complete strangers. There are multiple online modes and a regular single player mode if socializing is not your cup of tea. For online play, the maximum room size is six players.
The game is gated slightly behind optional cash purchases such as access to new songs and customization options. The variety in song choice isn't terrible, but it also isn't as good as similar games that are more popular and made for console systems. The music also isn't quite as well-known as in similar games.
For a free online dance game, Audition Online is a fun, casual romp that's perfect for music lovers who also happen to be PC gamers. If you have access to a console system, however, you're better off looking at those options instead.
