Primal Carnage: Extinction is a 3D video game that challenges you in an environment overrun with dinosaurs.

Primal Carnage: Extinction lets you take on the role of a mercenary hunting dinosaurs. You can also take on the role a dinosaur hunting the mercenaries. Playing the human hunter tends to be more involved since you have different classes and skills to choose from and must work your way up the food chain. Having a human play the dinosaur, however, adds a great deal of challenge to the game.

Primal Carnage: Extinction can be played entirely in a single-player. You choose a class and start out with some basic weapons and tools. You then build yourself up as do in most survival games. Successes are small at first, but they add up until you’re very powerful and armed to the teeth.

The game is arguably at its best in multiplayer, and it features a number of great modes, including the core co-op mode that has human players working together to overcome challenges. The game supports Steam Workshop, and there’s a loot system that adds to the longevity of the game. You can even trade unneeded loot in the Steam Marketplace, and that helps you get the loot you do need and want.

Primal Carnage: Extinction can be buggy at times. It’s never a deal-breaker but perhaps it should be more polished at this point. There’s also the question of whether it will ever get there. ARK: Survival Evolved was released soon after and may be doing a better job at keeping the same target audience.
