What is Going Medieval?

A single-player colony simulation set after a plague devastates civilization. You manage settlers’ jobs and needs, gather materials, research and craft technology, and build above or below ground on randomly generated multilevel maps while defending the settlement from raiders and beasts.

For you if...

  • +you enjoy designing castles across multiple vertical levels
  • +you want detailed settler jobs, skills, and needs
  • +you prefer single-player sandbox colony management

Not for you if...

  • you want multiplayer settlement building
  • you need family and lineage systems for settlers
  • you prefer fast-paced, combat-focused strategy

What players say

89% of 21,442 reviews are positive · 77% of 116 in the last 30 days

Players praise the flexible multilevel castle building, terrain manipulation, and management of distinct settlers. Common complaints focus on poor pathfinding, unreliable combat and defensive behavior, and the lack of families or lineages; some players also find progression thin after the settlement is established.
